Travel Journal: Maui
Hi there. Well, we are back from our week vacation in Maui and it did not disappoint. It was the perfect balance of activities and relaxation. We stayed in a condo in Wailea which was really fun because it's a bit more low key than staying in a hotel. The day we arrived we headed over to the Four Seasons and had lunch at one of our favorite spots, Ferraro's. The image above is the view from their patio.
Our condo had a pool right off of the beach. The photos above are the view from the pool. We spent more than our fair share of time sitting under the umbrellas reading by the pool. One of the days we decided to go scuba diving. Being 7-1/2 months pregnant I just snorkeled and went along for the ride. It was really fun and the views back onto the island from the boat is reason enough to give it a try. We went through the Maui Dive Shop. The staff was fun and professional, and the experience as a whole was awesome.
Another restaurant we really like in Wailea is Nick's Fishmarket. It's a little pricey, but the food is delicious and the views spectacular. It's definitely worth a visit. Plus they have a photographer that takes photos for the tourists and we couldn't resist!
One of the highlights of our trip was taking a cooking class through Chez Klio. It's about 45 minutes from Wailea in Kula. We were able to choose our menu from a list of Asian inspired, seasonal fare. If you like to cook, this is a must try!
Of course, one of our afternoons was spent on the golf course. I don't golf but my husband loves to so off we went. It was surprisingly fun and you can't beat the views from the course. I played caddy, which entailed me sitting in the cart taking photos and drinking iced tea. It's doubtful I will be called on to caddy again.
The last night we were there we decided to get really touristy and go to a luau. When in Rome...right? We headed over to the Old Lahaina Luau in Lahaina. There were a lot of people....like 500. We weren't so sure about it at first, but once the show started we had a great time. Traditional luau food, dancing and story telling.
That is all folks! We are home and happy to be back to our girl Zoe.
